Address Clean-up Service

In response to client requests, Unique Management Services (UMS), Library Division, now offers a program through which we compare a library’s entire patron address database to the Change of Address (NCOA) database affiliated with the United States Postal Service. This process verifies current addresses on file and updates incorrect addresses.

The cost of the NCOA Database Scrub is $0.015 per record, which is $150 for every 10,000 records sent.

The service may be used as-needed. However, UMS recommends that it be utilized biannually or annually since address changes remain in the NCOA database for at least 6 months.

Libraries using this service have found that patron addresses are more accurate for internal mailings and notices, thus making them more effective. Moreover, returned mail is reduced, saving valuable staff time.
